Our central location inside the historic district of Old Quebec city as defined by Unesco

Old Quebec city has been on Unesco’s World Heritage list since its inscription in 1985.

A central location : a stone throw from the train station, we are conveniently located just a few minutes from many attractions such as the waterfront farmers’ market, the old port quaint streets as well as the main street of the upper city. Our location is quiet as well as safe for walking at night!

From our central location, you will be able to visit on foot all the main attractions. No need for a car to visit the old port and walled city !

• 3 minutes to reach the train station or bus terminal
• 4 minutes to reach the waterfront and the old port quaint streets with its restaurants, shops and cafes
• a few more minutes to reach the piers where the large cruise ships dock
• 6 minutes to reach the main street of the upper city with its basilica, town hall, shops, restaurants
• 8 minutes to reach the Dufferin Terrace and Chateau Frontenac on the top of the hill

Walking instructions from the train or bus terminal

• From the train station’s main entrance/exit, go pass the fountain in front of the station,
• Take a small street called VAISSEAUX-DU-ROI (in front of the station) going up (perpendicular to the boulevard on which the train station is)
• Then turn left on the first street on your left called rue de Saint-Vallier EST.
• Do not go up the steeper part of the hill !
• Look for a house with a light blue roof and a red brick façade. You should not have to walk more than 5 minutes !

Option 1: Via highway 40 (easiest and most direct way)… leaving from Montreal

IMPORTANT : While on the 40 East highway, keep in the left lane when approaching Quebec city. Highway 40 will become highway 440 which in turn will become Autoroute Charest. NO NEED to take any exit. Ignore signs indicating Vieux Quebec.

• Take highway 40 East

• This highway becomes Autoroute Charest as you are approaching Quebec city.

• Autoroute Charest then becomes Charest Blvd west and then east.

• Charest Blvd east becomes St-Paul Street right after passing under the overhead highway lanes.

• Go slowly as you will have to turn right on St-Nicolas Street just after these overhead lanes.

• Keep your left on St-Nicolas, at the fork, go left and stop at the next intersection (there are 3 streets to choose from: Cote du Palais, St-Vallier and Vaisseaux-du-Roi, take St-Vallier East Street which is the middle street ,just below the fortifications (DO NOT go up the steep hill). We are just there almost at the corner. Look for a house with a blue roof and a red brick facade.

OR

Option 2: Via highway 20 (this is the nicest way to come into the city through its port)

• Take highway 20 East

• When approaching Levis on the south shore (city in front of Quebec city), follow the signs for the bridge called Pont Pierre-Laporte – the newer bridge. Crossing the bridge will bring you on the north side of the shore into Quebec city.

• While on the bridge, go slowly, keep on your right and watch for an exit called Champlain Blvd.This exit is a small exit, not well indicated ahead of time… very tricky !

• This exit will bring you on Champlain Blvd along the St-Lawrence river.

• Stay on that boulevard which becomes Dalhousie Street, stay on Dalhousie. Turn left on Quai St-Andre after the PetroCanada gas station.

• St-Andre becomes St-Paul street. Once on St-Paul, turn left on St-Nicolas street which is a bit after the beautiful train station (it looks like a little medieval castle) – do not go under the overhead highway lanes-

( ***If you missed Champlain Blvd exit, look for Chemin St-Louis. Chemin St-Louis becomes Grande Allee street. Stay on Grande Allee until you crosses the St-Louis Gate. Right after crossing the Gate, turn left on rue Sainte-Ursule and then right on St-Jean Street. Turn left on Cote (hill) du Palais. Go down that hill which turns slightly towards the left. Make a sharp turn right on St-Vallier East Street just below. )
