About the B&B

Welcome !

We were just waiting for your arrival ! Let us tell you a little bit more about our Bed and Breakfast.

Our house is located in a quiet area, near the marina and the piers (click here for a visit of the area). The best view of the Chateau Frontenac is probably the one from the old port area ! You easily access the walled section of the city from the ramparts entrance just across from our street.

Each room has an ensuite private bathroom with a spacious corner shower. The rooms section can be accessed by an entry way reserved to our guests for their convenience.

A breakfast buffet is served fresh every morning in the dining room and includes a variety of bread (raisins, maple syrup...), fresh butter croissants baked on the premisses and chocolate or apple croissants, muffins, yogurt, fresh fruit salad, jam, coffee and juice.

There are two breakfast seatings every morning: 8am and 9am.

Complimentary Breakfast to go: If you need to leave very early to catch an early-morning train or plane or just want to start the day earlier, we will be happy to provide you with a breakfast bag to bring with you. Just let us know the day before or when making your reservation with us.

Other informations

The house has many stairs...kindly consider the difficulties and inconvenience of bringing up the stairs many and heavy over-packed suitcases !- see our packing tips below

No pets, no smoking, no candles, no unregistered visitors in the house

Cat on the premisses: Miss Scarlet is strictly not allowed in the rooms. She can also be kept out of the living / dining rooms during the duration of your stay

Plenty of books in the house but no TV sets in the rooms or B&B

Minimum stay policy of 2 consecutive nights

Check-in time. Check-in is between 3 pm and 6 pm with later arrivals, accomodated upon request, until 9pm at the latest

Check-out: 11am

Parking availability : many public parking facilities are available 1 or 2 blocks away (8$ to 11$ CAD per 24-hour period) and their availability is generally not a problem

Wise people have taught us that “Less is better” ... on packing suitcases... Through out the years, we have seen many guests arrive at the B&B with huge or over-packed suitcases that they could barely lift, even less bring up the stairs ! In our opinion, over-packing is sure to be inconvenient and very likely unnecessary when you are travelling, and lodging at B&Bs in particular. Let us explain: Stairs: A typical older house will have many stairs and bedrooms are very rarely located on the first floor. At A la decouverte, we have many stairs and do not have an elevator. Closet space: In the old days, the concept of closets apparently did not exist ! Therefore, you can expect to find little closet space in an older family house. We do our best to provide you with some storage options (hooks, dresser, etc.) but we are limited in what we can offer.

The staff : Paul and I are happy to help you with your luggages whenever we can but in B&Bs, there is no staff dedicated to that particular task and no bellhops like in hotels. Bringing up many and heavy luggages at night can also be a nuisance to other guests. We are also limited in the weight we can lift ourselves ! Amenities: We will be happy to provide at your request, such things as an iron and ironing board and a hairdryer. We offcourse provide in each room individual toileteries (soap, shampoo, hair rince, lotion). You can therefore make your luggages lighter by not including these items.
